On a warm + rainy balmy August day, I had the honor of capturing Meg + Will at their romantic Hutton House wedding. Meg + Will met through mutual friends and while they didn’t hit it off the first night, they fell for each other pretty quickly after that. After falling in love, Will proposed during an intimate and beautiful gathering with Meg’s family on Christmas Eve. Meg + Will are parents to two cats and one sweet puppy. Both the kitties were originally Meg’s but have since accepted Will as their new father. Their cat Allie is sweet and calm, a rescue who loves to cuddle and lay by the fire. On the other hand, Sophie is their “crazy child,” who at 2 years old loves to run around and play. Meg also coached debate, so between that and our shared roles as cat parents, I just knew I would like these two right away. It truly was a blast working with them on their wedding day, capturing memories they’ll be able to enjoy for decades to come!!
Most of my favorite features of my client’s weddings are the small, thoughtful details incorporated into their celebration. For Meg + Will, one of those small details was offering signature drinks with names inspired by inside jokes and details of their relationship. To incorporate this into your day, talk to your venue and/or bartending service about offering 1-3 unique craft cocktails for your guests to choose from. You can always research recipes on your own, although most bartenders should be able to suggest some classic signature drinks. The real creativity will come in with the names you and your love choose! For example, Meg + Will named one of the drinks “The Footballer” as a nod to their shared love of the sport.
Meg + Will started their day by getting ready at Hutton House. Their getting-ready space was perfect for snapping details photos, candids, and solo portraits of the bride and groom. Meg then had a first look with her father, a meaningful pause to connect with her parents before having her first look with Will. Then the rain cleared just in time to head outside for their first look and couples photos. Next, we headed over to Normandale Lutheran Church, where we also captured a few more photos with family before the “I do’s”. Back at the Hutton House for the reception, the cocktail hour was followed by the wedding party’s grand entrances and the big celebration began! It was a beautiful evening and a night to remember for sure. Take a look through the photos of Meg + Will’s romantic Hutton House wedding below!
