Intimate Stillwater Wedding at the Lora Hotel

The Lora Hotel in Stillwater, Minnesota is a dream wedding venue, and Shelby + Megan’s intimate day there was one of the most beautiful I’ve photographed. These lovebirds started as best friends, having met through high school soccer. Years into their friendship, they decided they liked each other more than “just friends.” The rest is history! After many years together, Shelby + Megan opted for a low-key engagement, ordering rings together and taking a mini-vacation to Chicago to exchange them. They then spent the rest of the trip exploring the city with their dog, Tilly! For their wedding, Megan + Shelby headed to Stillwater for the absolute CUTEST intimate wedding!

While many of my clients opt for wedding venues within the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area, I looove when I can capture special moments and explore other parts of Minnesota with my couples. While Stillwater itself is filled with cute spots for the most charming photos, The Lora Hotel is a stunning venue on the banks of the St. Croix River! It was also nice that Shelby + Megan’s venue doubled as a hotel, so guests didn’t need to worry about traveling far to the ceremony and reception once they had arrived in Stillwater. And with Stillwater only a short drive outside of the Twin Cities metro, it’s the perfect intimate wedding venue with the vibe of a destination wedding, but without lengthy and expensive travel!

Megan + Shelby’s day started like most of my weddings with getting ready and details photos, which they opted to do together! After snapping a ton of candids and capturing the final touches, Shelby, Megan, and I ventured into the streets of Stillwater for a wide range of couples photos. Next were family photos, before resting and resetting ahead of the ceremony. The rest of the night was spent inside the Lora hotel, where the exposed brick and moody lighting provided the perfect backdrop to Megan + Shelby’s night of celebration. I’m so glad these best friends fell in love, and I’m excited for Megan + Shelby to revisit Stillwater and remember their special day for years to come.
