Minneapolis Brunch Wedding at Aster Cafe

A brunch wedding at Aster Cafe in Minneapolis? Yes please. Shanita + Greg’s morning celebration was one of the most joyful and unique days my team has had the pleasure of photographing.

Shanita was born in the Caribbean, and grew up primarily in Michigan, while Greg was born and raised in St. Paul. Luckily, these lovebirds found one another, and Greg proposed in the fall of 2020 while camping in Northern Minnesota. When looking for photography, Shanita and Greg really wanted the photos to help them relive the energy of their day. Preserving in-between moments is central to my team’s approach, and my associate photographer Ceri did a fabulous job at capturing every cheerful, warm, emotional moment! Weddings can feel fast-paced and overwhelming, and Shanita + Greg combatted this by scheduling one-on-one time throughout the day. Amidst the flurry of the day’s activities, it can often be difficult to meaningfully connect with your partner. You can easily combat this by scheduling time for photos and events with just you and your partner. For Shanita + Greg, this meant scheduling a first look and couple’s photos before the ceremony, and some private time after to celebrate their new marriage. During the reception, Twin Cities Hot Club (a local 3 piece jazz band) performed as guests mingled. And then family and friends enjoyed a beautiful brunch buffet during toasts and special speeches. Shanita + Greg ended the day with a grand exit, walking past their loved ones who cheered and waved streamers. They then shouted goodbye from their rental car for the first time as a married couple.
