I’m so excited to introduce you to Ceri, one of the longest-standing associate photographers on the CSP team! Ceri first joined us as a second shooter back in 2021, and it took about five minutes of working with her for me to know I wanted her on as an associate for good. She has this ridiculously kind, steady energy that puts everyone at ease the moment she walks in. Couples relax, parents open up, and even the most camera-shy guests forget the camera’s there at all. She’s also exceptional at giving clear direction, so you’ll feel comfortable in front of her lens from the very first photo. Keep reading to get to know Ceri, from the couples she loves working with most to the two cats waiting for her at home. And when you’re done, you can see her full associate portfolio here.

Tell us about your journey in photography so far! How long have you been a photographer? How many weddings have you shot? What have you learned along the way?
I’ve always been intrigued by photography and held my first film camera in art class in high school. Ever since then, I’ve been hooked!
In 2008, I changed career paths and chose to follow my heart and pursue my love of photography. I moved to Minneapolis to attend school for photography and was fortunate to learn from some really great instructors. Since then, I have had the pleasure of photographing a little bit of everything – weddings, families, seniors, and corporate teams and events. Weddings have my heart, and I feel so fortunate to be able to document such an important day.
My wedding experience began in 2010, and my experience allows me to stay calm in moments of stress. I approach every wedding with the intention of making sure that my couple feels supported and valued.
What’s your favorite part of being an associate for Celisia Stanton Photography?
My most favorite and most important reason for associate shooting for Celisia? That’s easy to share. I love the relationships that Celisia builds with her clients, and I love being able to be of service to really amazing humans. I believe that like attracts like, and the clients that believe in the work that Celisia does are my kind of people.
It is such an honor to be a part of an incredibly kind and inclusive company.

Tell us about the couples you love working with most.
My favorite couples are down-to-earth, genuine people who care more about celebrating with the people they love than putting on a perfect production. My mission is to befriend my couples and create a relaxed experience where everyone feels comfortable being themselves, and I proudly welcome couples of all identities, backgrounds, and family structures.
What’s your favorite part of a wedding day to capture?
Honestly, I love it all. I’m there to document your day and to capture moments that you may not even know are happening. But if I had to choose, my favorite time is either the first look or when we get to sneak away from your celebration and take sunset photos of just you and your partner. It’s that quiet excitement of realizing that you get to officially spend the rest of your life with this totally rad and perfect for you human.

What are some of your favorite venues you’ve worked at?
The Essence Event Center in St. Paul, PAIKKA in St. Paul, and The Confluence Hotel in Hastings are some recent venues that I’ve repeatedly photographed at and loved! However, I’m always up for experiencing a new venue and love exploring new spaces.
What’s your go-to wedding day advice for soon-to-be married couples?
Make time to enjoy each other. Your wedding day will fly by, and I believe it is important to make space in your timeline for just you and your partner. You’ll want to have time to enjoy the fact that you are starting an amazing adventure together and not feel like you’re rushing from one thing to another. Take time to really experience your wedding day.

What would you say to a couple who is nervous about having their picture taken?
Breathe. Almost everyone feels uncomfortable or nervous in front of the camera, and my job is to make sure that we can create images that capture you and your partner in a fun and authentic way. My goal for each portrait session is to have fun and have you feel like you weren’t just having your photo taken, but having a really awesome experience.
Are you a cat person, dog person, or neither? Why?
I’m a cat mom to two adorable kitties, so I’m definitely partial to cats. My in-laws have a very handsome English Mastiff that is the most gentle dog you could ever meet. Don’t make me choose!

[…] Shanita + Greg opted for a less-traditional day with a beautiful and intimate brunch wedding at Aster Cafe. Shanita was born in the Caribbean, and grew up primarily in Michigan, while Greg was born and raised in St. Paul. Luckily, these lovebirds found one another, and Greg proposed in the fall of 2020 while camping in Northern Minnesota. When looking for photography, Shanita and Greg really wanted the photos to help them relive the energy of their day. Preserving in-between moments is central to my team’s approach, and my associate Ceri did a fabulous job at capturing every cheerful, warm, emotional moment! You can learn more about Ceri and her approach as an associate in her q + a blog! […]
