Sam + Cierra’s wedding at Mosaic Venue in downtown Minneapolis was a day full of elegance, joy, and laughter! The two first met in Washington, D.C., at an after-party for the Congressional Black Caucus Conference. The two quickly hit it off and danced the night away! The next day, Sam returned home to Minnesota, and the two talked every day for months! After countless nights falling asleep on FaceTime, Sam surprised Cierra by renting out one of her favorite restaurants in Maryland — inviting her closest family and friends to celebrate their engagement.

Why We Love This Mosaic Venue Wedding

Our team has photographed quite a few weddings at Mosaic Venue, and it has become one of our favorite spaces in downtown Minneapolis! Mosaic is a modern, industrial-style venue with soaring ceilings, polished concrete floors, and entire walls of big black-framed windows. As photographers, we love this. All that glass fills the room with gorgeous natural light, and the bright walls bounce it around beautifully, which lets us lean fully into the natural, candid style we’re known for.

What really sets Mosaic apart is that it’s a true blank canvas. Sam + Cierra filled the space with personal touches and decor, and it carried every bit of it beautifully. We’ve also photographed weddings there that kept things much more minimal, like Katherine + Lucell’s day, and the space looked just as stunning. Not many venues can pull off both! And if you like that industrial feel, Lumber Exchange is another downtown space with a similar vibe. My team got to photograph Aarushi + Shane’s 3-day wedding across both Mosaic and Lumber Exchange, and it’s one of my favorite examples of how well the two spaces complement each other.

Getting Ready at Mosaic + Elliot Park Hotel

Mosaic is also attached to the Elliot Park Hotel, and this might be our favorite practical detail. Getting ready, the ceremony, the reception, and the after-party can all happen without anyone getting in a car. It’s so easy for out-of-town guests, it keeps your timeline simple (less travel means more time for photos!), and it means the celebration can go late without anyone worrying about the drive home. We’ve photographed getting-ready moments in the hotel many times, and the natural light in those rooms is lovely, which isn’t something every hotel can say! Some rooms even have balcony access, which makes for beautiful portraits. And if you’d rather stay somewhere else entirely, there are plenty of great hotels just a few blocks away, plus wonderful outdoor photo spots all around the neighborhood. Sam + Cierra’s Mosaic Venue Wedding Day

Sam + Cierra’s day was captured by one of our amazing associate photographers! The couple started their day in separate rooms at the Elliot Park Hotel, getting ready with their respective wedding parties. Next was Cierra’s first look with her dad, who shed a few tears looking at his stunning daughter. Sam + Cierra then worked their way through a variety of couples, wedding party, and family photos before the whole group traveled next door to Mosaic for the ceremony. Sam + Cierra’s ceremony and reception were a beautiful reflection of their love and their personal style. They had live music (a saxophonist and a pianist), lit a unity candle, and finished it all by jumping the broom together. The rest of the night was a beautiful blur of food, drinks, laughter, dancing, and joyous FUN. Get a glimpse into their gorgeous day by scrolling through the photos below! <3
