A gorgeous outdoor ceremony on Finnegan’s patio was the highlight of Katherine + Lucell’s Minneapolis Mosaic Venue wedding! Like many modern couples, the two first connected on Hinge. At the time, Lucell often traveled back and forth from Missouri, so the foundation of his relationship with Katherine was built on their daily phone calls, which often lasted for hours. Katherine told me that their connection was natural and that from the first date, it felt like they’d known each other for years! Then, on their one-year anniversary, Lucell planned something extra special while visiting a family cabin. He hid a trail of letters around the house, each featuring different themes of their love. When Katherine got to the last letter, Lucell told her to put on a blindfold and wait for him to come get her. Then, he guided her to a room full of candles and rose petals, and when the blindfold came off, there he was, down on one knee, a neon sign behind him that read, “Will you marry me?” For Katherine, it was the easiest yes of her life!
Katherine and Lucell prioritized carving out time for a private vow exchange during their otherwise busy wedding day. While many people read their full vows during the ceremony, a private vow exchange is a great option for couples who prefer a more intimate moment together. Some couples will tie this exchange into their first look, while Katherine and Lucell made time for it later — after their couples photos! Another option is to prepare two different sets of vows – one that is longer and more personal for the private exchange and a shorter, more laid-back one for the ceremony. As always, you should customize this idea to what is most authentic and meaningful to you and your relationship!
As for the rest of the day, Lucell + Katherine started their day of photography with getting ready photos and candids. After which, Katherine put on her dress in preparation for their first look! The two had their first look outside, followed by couples photos and their private vows (of course, many tears were shed!!!). The couple then rejoined the rest of their loved ones for their wedding party and family photos. Katherine and Lucell opted to have their cocktail party before the ceremony, so their friends and family could mingle and get comfortable before the big moment. At their reception, Katherine and Lucell planned an extra special treat for their guests – tattoo artists!!
Every part of the day was so special and felt so true to the core of who Katherine and Lucell are – both as individuals and as a couple. The day was captured by my amazing associate Ceri, who you can learn more about here.
