We had the most perfect Minneapolis summer weather for Julia + Brian’s wedding at Como Park Conservatory + McNamara Alumni Center!! This adorable couple started as high school sweethearts, initially brought together by their mutual passion for music. For their proposal, Brian had a special event planned at Parque del Buen Retiro in Madrid, but they had to return early due to the COVID-19 travel ban. But Brian turned a disappointment around on their 9th wedding anniversary by making homemade spicy chicken rigatoni and bringing Julia’s ring out on a dessert platter. They are both such kind and fun people, and photographing their special day was the perfect treat amid an especially busy wedding season.

A standout moment from this day was a surprise Julia planned during the ceremony. As a professional singer, Julia prepared her own performance of Shubert’s Ave Maria and sang it during the ceremony. Brian had no clue this was Julia’s plan, and I was tearing up along with him as Julia’s stunning voice resonated through the chapel where they said their vows. If you’re looking for a way to add extra special moments to your wedding day, I recommend planning a surprise using any special talents you may have. You could bake a special treat to enjoy with your love after dinner, plan a flash mob with your bridal party, or even paint something to commemorate your love story. No matter what you choose, make sure to keep it hush-hush, so your talents can truly surprise and delight!

Earlier in the day, Julia and Brian had their first look at Como Park Conservatory. Julia looked absolutely STUNNING. It was absolutely heartwarming to see Brian’s face and his tears when he saw his soon-to-be wife standing in front of him. After couple’s portraits and special pre-ceremony time with just the two of them, Brian and Julia invited their loved ones to join them for formal portraits. Next was the ceremony, held at Julia’s childhood church, before moving to their reception at the McNamara Alumni Center. It was so touching to hear Julia + Brian’s family and friends toast to their love, sharing stories from years gone by.
