Kenneth + Sierra braved cold temps this past winter to take the most magical and snowy North Loop Minneapolis engagement photos! Kenneth + Sierra met more than 10 years ago when they were both in college at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. They were friends and liked each other, but didn’t start dating until they reconnected years later. A few years into dating (and after surviving quarantine together), Kenneth proposed at Boom Island Park. They had planned to find a new restaurant for a dinner date, but Kenneth insisted on going for a walk. Sierra found it a little odd. It wasn’t the warmest spring day, but it turned out to be the most memorable walk of her life! After the proposal, Kenneth told Sierra they were going to have an intimate dinner catered at home to celebrate. To Sierra’s surprise, she walked into a room full of their closest friends and family. It was truly magical!
The key to gorgeous winter engagement sessions like Kenneth + Sierra’s is layers!! You’ll want to stay warm, but you can still look cute while doing so! If you don’t want winter gear in your photos, bring a coat/hat/gloves to put on between photos. I’m a big fan of adding layers under your ideal outfit, such as long underwear or fleece tight under jeans, or a long-sleeved cotton t-shirt under your button-down. Another option is to invest in a cute coat like the one Sierra has in her photos. This way, you can stay warm without compromising your dream photo aesthetic. I also offer a couple’s session style guide to all my clients, which includes some great tips + tricks on how to style the perfect outfits for your session.
Kenneth + Sierra met up with my incredible associate Ceri for their session. Ceri was also the photographer for Kenneth + Sierra’s wedding the next summer, so the engagement session was the perfect time for them all to get to know one another and for them to get comfortable in front of the camera ahead of their big day. They started in the alley next to Spoon and Stable, which has a painted gray wall that is a great backdrop for photos. Next, they ventured over to a nearby parking lot to snag some photos with the Minneapolis skyline in the background. Kenneth + Sierra did a fabulous job braving the cold with Ceri, and have the cutest photos as their reward. Check out some highlights from their snowy North Loop Minneapolis engagement session below!
