Running around Northeast Minneapolis wedding at The Whim reminded me of why my photo clients are literally the best. Megan + Drew first met on Bumble, and matched when Megan and her family were using her profile as entertainment while waiting for her sister to give birth. When she first found Drew’s profile, Megan told her family “he has a job and he goes outside!” Megan admits now that the bar may have been a bit low at the time, haha! Years later, they are madly in love, and live together with their cat, Clyde. Their wedding at the Whim was perfectly styled, and the thoughtful elements they incorporated throughout made the day uniquely Megan + Drew.
Their decor was especially sentimental! Megan + Drew filled the tall white built-ins in the Whim’s side-room with nearly a dozen framed portraits of various family members on their own wedding days. With this set up, it was just the right place for Megan + Drew’s first look and family photos. The photos as a backdrop was the a perfect way to honor the love that came before them, including loved ones who’ve passed. The frames were also a great reminder of how our photos only become more valuable with age. So if you’re looking for a way to honor the special relationships in your life, I highly recommend trying out something similar!
While the framed photos were certainly a highlight, we kicked off the day with details photos and candids during getting ready. Megan did a first look with her side of the wedding party, and it was so sweet to see everyone’s excited faces as Megan stunned in her bridal best. After Megan + Drew’s own first look, we headed to couples photos, exploring the small slice of Northeast Minneapolis around the Whim, and landing on the cutest brick building with crawling vines as a backdrop for their photos. Back inside the Whim, we took wedding party and family photos, before resting and resetting for the ceremony. After saying “I Do,” Megan, Drew, and the rest of their wedding party piled into a party bus and headed to Boom Island for a few more fun wedding party pics. The rest of the night was filled with typical reception fare, including speeches, dinner, cake cutting, and lots of dancing. Megan + Drew used every second of their day to its full potential, and I could just see how much their guests enjoyed celebrating their one-of-a-kind love. I’m so glad Bumble did its job in bringing these two together, and I just know that for Megan + Drew, the best is yet to come!
